There are always at least 6 balls in the air, juggling around, my work, collin's preschool, owen's school, drew's work, home life, the new construction, etc. (the list does indeed go on). So, imagine how plentiful my time is for blogging.
Its really nada.
maybe even negative time.
BUT BUT BUT this is as close as I have to a baby book past the boy's first year, so I remind myself that I would be a HORRIBLE momma if I didn't take the time to write some of it down. Which brings us to Halloween. I know it was a month ago. I'm sorry. But I promise they were so stinkin' cute (ha ha, Collin was a skunk. Get it?)
Halloween is a fun time of the year for us though. We love it because its not just one night of the year here in Minnesota. The boys get to celebrate on multiple occasions and they love wearing their costumes. Here is Minnesota, Halloween last a whole week or so, and we make the most of every moment of it!
First, there is the children's museum. All museum members get invited to a private halloween party where the kids get free reign of the place in their costumes and all the staff dress up. Its adorably fun, and the museum is about the best place on earth for anyone under 6 or so.
Owen sported his adorable lion roar, and Collin lead the way with his skunk costume. He thought being a skunk was super fun, but was concerned that so many people were asking him if he smelled. He'd often say, no. I'm a good smellin' skunk.
Because the museum was early in the festivities, we hadn't yet carved our pumpkins, which we couldn't really do outside, since we live on the second floor. So, we went to task on one big pumpkin to make a jack-o-lantern out of and let the boys color on a few others. Collin still isn't very excited about the goop inside the pumpkin and Owen wanted to be nowhere near it. However, both love pumpkin seeds and ate them with reckless abandon.
On Halloween weekend they sported their Halloween shirts (and posed for a few photos early in the day before they became covered in food, paint etc.) Here they sort of look like two little angles, sitting and smiling. Do not be fooled though.
They really were just planning their attack.
Owen even knew to put himself in time out.
Collin found a skunk to befriend and Owen made friends with other jungle animals.
They found Thomas the train to take a photo with, and behaved sort of like wild gorillas.
Finally, we rounded out the holiday with the actual course of trick our treating, and the boys worked it like pros. They came home with loads of candy (which dad promptly devoured, mostly) and had such fun visiting all of our neighbors on our street. We're lucky to live in such a fantastic neighborhood.
