Night Trains 2013

The night trains are one of those special holiday memories we hope to give the boys year after year. I'm sure they'll eventually grow out of wanting to see them, but hopefully it doesn't happen for a long long long long time.

Every year we get the kids in their pajamas, wait until its nearly bedtime and take them to the  Twin Cities Model Train Museum to see the night trains. The night trains are a special set up where the whole entire model train village is dark, with the exception of hundreds of little tiny street lights, stop lights, christmas lights, neon signs, car lights and other various little tiny lights that illuminate the world in dark.

One particular train is the Christmas train, with each car decorated with the tiniest of christmas lights and holiday decor. The boys love to watch the town in action and to see the little trains move about the city lit up.

Its no surprise then, when they saw Santa Claus, they asked for more trains.
Trains seem to be a direct route to these boys' hearts.

I hope when they are old enough to have their own kids the night train trips hold a special spot in their hearts.
