Bump Watch 2009

We're now past the half way mark and things are progressing along in many ways. We've started working on the nursery, the baby is making quite a bit of movement and I'm definitely growing. So, as the first installment of 'Bump Watch 2009', for all of you have pestered us about showing off my quickly expanding waistline. Here I am at 22 weeks (looking very baby-bulgy), now officially out of my regular clothes and into maternity pants and bella bands. Which both are quite comfy additions to my wardrobe. What is a bella band you ask? Its a fantastic piece of fabric that looks like nothing special, essentially a tube-top for your baby belly, but its wonderful! I can wear my old pants (pretty much undone) and not have to worry about them falling down because the bella band holds them up all the while looking like a long tee-shirt. Its the perfect transitional piece.

I was so glad to get one and finally not be concerned about the oh-so-dangerous plumber crack look, because as hard as I tried, I could not, for the life of me, keep my pants around my belly.
So, as I mentioned, we've also been busy preparing the nursery, which was sort of by the seat of our pants. We dove into reading Baby Bargains with fervor, because after all we didn't want to buy anything that would harm/injure/be recalled/be a waste of our money for our baby boy and found that the furniture that we had picked out from JcPenny was incredibly notorious for coming in ridiculously late. Baby Bargains gave them a dismal D+ because of their less than pleasing delivery status. So, being the proactive parents we are, we decided to risk it all and still order from JcPenny, we just made sure to order with plenty of time, thinking we wouldn't see the furniture for 10 weeks or so. We'll, as Murphy's law goes, we were not prepared for any furniture, no paint, no relocation of furniture, no anything, but on Wednesday, a mere week and a half after we placed our order our furniture was here! So, quickly, and by the seat of our pants we had to get the nursery ready.

This weekend we spent our time scrambling to make room for furniture, that hell or high water was coming Sunday afternoon. Lucky for me, an act of God gave me Thursday and Friday off (okay, more like a miserable act of -20 degrees where the snot in your nose freezes instantaneously...)so I was able to tape the bedroom and office to get ready for paint and transition into a new spare bedroom and nursery. We painted, we moved furniture, we changed trim and all in all we were happy with our results. The nursery is now 'apple mist' and the spare bedroom is now both light and dark tan with a chair rail. When the crib came, Drew, with his very handy skills put it together and now the room looks much more like a nursery. As things get closer to our due date, we'll put up some photos of the nursery, but as a sneak peak if you look closely in the bump photos you can see the crib behind me.
So now its time to finally relax. We can't wait to sit on our butts for a weekend and catch up on all of the 'eating for two' that I should be doing :)
